How to Be Filled by the Power of God
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."
There are different arts of prayer that enable a spiritual person to grow quickly by being filled with the Spirit of God. It is about optimizing your time and your resources. Let us look at the following ways to get the most out of your altar of prayer and worship.
Do you want your prayer to be accompanied by a focused mind and an active spirit that easily connects to the Holy Spirit?
One of the ways you can grow fast in spiritual life is through hours of prayer. But having an active spirit that easily attaches to the Holy Spirit through sentimental worship and a single heart is not an easy thing to achieve. If you have such an atmosphere of prayer always, then your power and growth will accelerate. Every time you rise from such an active-spirit prayer moment, you glow with light and your spirit will be filled with the power of God. The next day, serving or being served in the church while full of God's power becomes an exciting experience. In such favored moments, it is a suitable opportunity to encounter more of God to have life transformed for good, as Jacob testified in Genesis 32:30.
There are different theories as to the significance of incense in the Bible. The smell of incense is said to capture people’s attention so they can worship in a focused state. Such focused worship invites the presence of the One being worshiped more deeply.
Moses and Aaron were instructed to burn specific incense every day in the temple inside the holy chamber.
Everything natural is created by God for some purpose. There are things used by people to boost mental activity. Among these is coffee. Coffee is consumed by many people around the world. In some countries, people drink more than three cups a day.
There is a way to make coffee give us the most mind-boosting effect. What I’m about to tell you is not just a theory—it is something that works. If you are a person of prayer seeking to increase the power of God in you, then take every right opportunity to be filled with the anointing.
First, quit drinking coffee if you are a daily consumer. Take a break for a week.
Then, if you want to pray for more than an hour, your prayer should be more than just uttering words—it becomes worship. Try not to eat before you start praying; let there be a gap of at least three hours after your last meal.
So, on an empty stomach, drink coffee and pray while listening to hymns. You will notice your spirit stretching more than usual toward God.
At the end of your prayer, accompanied by praise and worship, you will feel more lifted in power.
Such an exercise should be done on selected days of the week. If you choose to do it daily, make sure to take a break for a few months afterward. Being dependent on coffee 365 days a year is not the best approach for various reasons.
When or if you encounter God, the natural response is not prayer but worship—because He is a true God worthy of worship, whether we feel like it or not. When you wake up at night, your consciousness is freshly switched on, so it is easier to enter a spirit of worship because the mind is more clear and focused. As long as you are alert, nighttime is a suitable moment for prayer.
If you dream of building a strong Christian inner life—with both the fruit of character and the power of God—then you are aiming to become a revivalist. To achieve this, you need regular Bible reading sessions and a powerful prayer altar. Your strength to endure challenges and walk farther with God without falling can only be achieved if you read the entire Bible again and again as a lifestyle.
Night-time prayer is a perfect moment to connect your spirit with God because the mind is more cooperative in such quiet moments. Dedicate at least one hour each night for worship, and you will see how power grows within you.
Another effective way to invite the Holy Spirit is to develop the art of intercession. Intercession is something learned through practice—it has more of an experiential nature than we often imagine.
Spiritual life is something that grows over time. You will be amazed when God teaches you new mystical forms of prayer step by step as you intercede regularly. Although God Himself guides you to whom you should intercede, I suggest that you focus on changing the life of one person at a time. A one-day prayer for one person might not always be the best approach. Instead, take one person and bring them before God repeatedly until God sends an answer—as it is said in Isaiah 62:7: "...and give him no rest till he establishes Jerusalem."
Intercession naturally accelerates your spiritual growth because it exercises love in a simple but powerful way. And to love is the great will of the Eternal God.
Mysticism is the activity of the spirit of a mature Christian. Just as the physical body grows over time and learns to use the body parts for various tasks, the spirit of a born-again person can also grow and perform spiritual tasks. A mystic person may sit still doing nothing physically, but his or her spirit may travel, connect to others, and bless them. This is just a simple example of mystical tasks. The things the spirit of an anointed person can do are invisible and mysterious, as Jesus explained in John 3:8.
Healing, comforting, transforming lives—these are things a mystic person can do through the Holy Spirit. If you want to be a mystic Christian starting from zero, here is some guidance. You will be able to grab the rope and climb the hill of mysticism through biblical spiritual exercises.
First, you must set your mind into a seeking-God mode. Your mind must be focused, and your soul and heart should be united toward worshiping God, at least for the duration of prayer.
Second, pray in tongues continuously. If possible, play hymns to help elevate your spirit toward God through a worshipful atmosphere. Sooner or later, your spirit will lift and want to rest somewhere. At that moment, think of someone with whom you want to spiritually connect through intercession. Don’t be afraid to choose anyone, as long as you feel aligned with God's will.
Unite mystically as you pray, placing your spirit upon that person through God. You will notice your intercession bearing fruit as the person finds peace and joy.
If you cannot yet pray in tongues, it is simple. First, have a strong will. Second, know that you must speak voluntarily—nothing will force you. Third, if you are born again, do not doubt whether your words are meaningless. They are meaningful to your spirit. Speak them in faith for the benefit of the spirit, not the mind. Fourth, say, "In the name of Jesus Christ," and start uttering those "meaningless" words. They are anointed because the Spirit dwells in you. If you were not born again, they would indeed be meaningless—but now they are alive and powerful, as the Spirit speaks through them to God.
Start with the little drop of power you have and pray in tongues. Be devoted, and the Word of God—which you should read without skipping a single letter—and the Holy Spirit will give you powerful revelations that will guide you to a higher life.
In a year, if you are dedicated enough, you will become powerful! The power of God will flow through your spirit like a river, as explained in Ezekiel 47. You may even begin to pray without uttering audible words. The name of God, through the Spirit, will become your greatest treasure.
If you continue overcoming challenges through unconditional love and humility, you will be amazed at the great things God will do through you. As mentioned in other posts, never be judgmental—especially toward elders. Never use your power to chastise others. Never let your ego drive you to release your power. In such cases, you may leak your power—and you will only realize the loss once it’s gone. So, safeguarding what is accumulated is a vital responsibility of every anointed person. Never trust your mind if it leans toward hatred or despising others.
Have a spiritual father and have someone to pray for. These are great supports alongside your devotions for tremendous spiritual growth.
