Heavenly Power

When a desperate Christian draws near to God through fervent prayer, heavenly power may be born and begin to grow within the person's spirit. This power can manifest the power and glory of God to a limited extent. As the empowered individual continues in obedience and spiritual practice, that power will keep glowing and growing, as the Holy Spirit guides the person to walk in the will of God. However, the problem with such a rare and glorious, purpose-driven, enlightened life is that the person may start to assume they are so perfectly synchronized with God that whatever they do must be God's will. Not only that, but they may begin to equate the anointing revealed through the Spirit with God Himself. This untrue assumption builds an unreasonably high self-esteem in the person, which eventually leads to unwanted consequences.
Mystical energy—commonly called the anointing—is a potential available to any born-again Christian who is willing to receive and develop it, as long as the person remains trustworthy in keeping it. Just as the body and mind of human beings have accomplished great things throughout history, the spirit also has its own distinct potential, capable of doing wonderful things in the world. The contributions of mystic Christians throughout time may not be directly recorded in historical chronicles, but it is a sure fact that great wonders have been performed. The main subject of this article is to highlight a few major faults that mystic individuals often hold onto—faults that can lead to the leaking of power and falling into unexpected messes.
The first thing to understand is that once a person receives power, it is a mistake to assume that focusing on nurturing this power is equivalent to loving God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. But the truth is: the power is something heavenly, given by God. While it may reflect His majesty, beauty, and strength, it is not God. In John 14:23, Jesus promised that He and the Father would come and dwell in us if we obey His teachings. Therefore, it is essential and decisive to be filled with the knowledge of His teachings. We should use the power of the anointing to help us apply His Word more seriously and consistently.
The main point is that having spiritual power does not guarantee righteousness or holiness. If someone assumes otherwise, they are mistaken—because when hard challenges arise, we do not overcome them merely through power, but by choosing the right paths through knowledge. Never assume that the mystical power developed in you frees you from the responsibility of loving your neighbors and brothers. God said in the book of Hosea that His people perished due to a lack of knowledge—not a lack of power! The primary thing a person needs is a strong foundation in order to live securely and safely. That foundation is built through knowledge and obedience, with a reverent fear of God. Then, secondarily, mystical energy can grow and glow continuously to the end—glorifying God and blessing the believer. Power will not keep you from committing sin, but knowledge can.
The second fault that empowered mystic individuals can fall into is using the power on whomever and however they feel like. A life dictated by emotion is very dangerous for two key reasons. First, it may open the door for the devil to interfere—allowing the power to be imparted temporarily to others and used for his own advantage. When the devil tempted Jesus in the wilderness, he tried to entice Him into misusing His power. So yes, the power can be manipulated for evil if the person possessing it lacks proper knowledge and discernment.
Second, mystics must be cautious of emotion-driven use of power because this power is like fire—and there’s a difference between using fire and playing with it. If you use fire properly, you can do incredible things—even something as basic yet essential as cooking food. But if you play with fire, you risk burning yourself and everything around you. The same principle applies to mystical power. We must be trained in when and how to use it; otherwise, it can backfire and bring destruction instead of blessing.
Mystical power is part of the abundant life Jesus promised, but it is not the whole of it. A life filled with knowledge and spiritual fruit is the true foundation, because that is what God emphasized throughout Scripture. Assuming that power is a fruit that can replace knowledge is self-deception.

Pursuing knowledge and the fruit of character alongside nurturing mystical power is the only right path that truly helps us serve and please God. It is not the power itself that matters most to God—or to us—but the foundation we stand on, which should be built on love and the knowledge of God's will. Serving others with mystical power—such as healing, breaking yokes, comforting—does not replace love. If someone is faint-hearted and timid yet still possesses anointing, that person should examine and correct their ego in how they relate to others, rather than depending solely on the power to lead a strong life.
So what should a mystically empowered person do in order to optimize success and tranquility?
- Expect life and grace primarily from obeying God, not just from the anointing. People who please God may walk in a higher level of soul energy than someone with mystical power alone. Understanding this helps the heart stay modest and avoid unnecessary pride, which only adds burden to the soul.
- Always exercise benevolence toward people around you. The mercy of the Lord is for those who show mercy. Exercising mystical power does not guarantee prosperity, but showing kindness through action certainly does pay back—one way or another. Be diligent in growing the anointing, but also commit time to exercising love in action.
- Don’t look far to practice love—start with those who share your home. Just as natural light helps the mind work more effectively, God gives heavenly light to those who practice love in action. This light can shine in our inner life, revealing wisdom to the soul.
